012 ⇨ pick back up

video ⇨ public

[There's a living room, and a couch, and a cup of tea on the table (unseen), and in the middle of the couch, there's Mae. Knees pulled up to her chest, chin pressed against one knee, expression almost blank as she looks at the screen. After a long pause, she sighs and looks down.]

Well, I've been able to find a new device after mine was...boggled up. Let's say I retired it to a better life. Something like that - does it work? Does that sound... [Another sigh, and she hides her face for a moment. A huff of laughter, then she looks up, eyes puffy.]

I haven't quite figured how to be clever and witty and funny when my biggest support is gone. I am glad they managed to escape this place, anyone can tell that we don't belong here, and to think that Alan and Jamie were here long before I - [She shakes her head to focus.] Anyway, yes. And then there was one.

[She uncurls, feet pressed against the floor, and leans over to pick the device.] Give me a few weeks before I become operational again.

[And the feed cuts off there.]

[ooc; Explanation for her long absence - she might have thrown the device out of her window when she realized Alan, Nick and Jamie (especially Jamie) had left the City. Lonely Mae is a new thing. So let's see.]

I should be in a mood more often.

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, then you'd just be depressing all the time and that'd get annoying. Besides, you're pretty when you smile.

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha - and pretty good at finding friends who know what to say to make me cheer up, I think.

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently, you're just awesome that way.

[He's in the Impala now with one of Mary's pies and headed toward Mae's place.]

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
And in a newfound need of an agenda, apparently. Suddenly, so many plans.

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Petty sure it's one of the things everybody tells you to do. Keep busy.

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I seem to be. Yesterday I had nothing planned, and now I've got food with a new friend, riding lessons tomorrow, and chocolate, and pie. If not busy, I'll at least keep well-fed.

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, that's important too.

[He pulls the Impala up outside her building and starts toward the door, stopping in front of it to knock, pie in one hand.]

1/3

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah - hold on, I have company.

ACTION;

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[She finally pulls herself off the couch, and trusts her luck and awesome ability not to make enemies in the City to keep her safe, because she's got nothing. Not even pepper spray. All she has is scalding tea, but she can't just drench people and then what - lock the door behind her?

(And she doesn't think she has reasons to be afraid, because she's just a girl, now. No demon, no brother, no older friend. No-one from her world. And while Alan, Nick and Jamie didn't throw her into trouble or bring trouble home -rather, she did, didn't she?- Mae wanted to believe that she was getting better at this whole Dealing With Danger thing. Until now, it'd been for Jamie, but now it would have to be for herself.)

She takes the tea mug with her, grabbing it by the handle in the best way to throw it at someone if they were a danger. Which will not happen, she wants to believe.

Like that, she unlocks the door and swings it open.]

Oh.

[She blinks in surprise, looks down at the pie in his hand, and then up at him again. With an amused purse of her lips, she picks her device and composes a text.]

[Dean is just grinning at her with that idiot's 'I am so awesome' grin on his face. He's clearly not that worried about the tea mug. He laughs outright when he gets the text and pauses to send one back.]

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone brings me pie in my hour of need, and all I have is a cup of burning tea in my hand. What would Dean do?

Re: text;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Invite them in, eat the pie and then probably sleep with them but I'd stick to two out of three.]

Scoundrel! [Her eyebrows are raised, but she takes it with a grain of salt and a dash of humor. That was very forward, she'll give him that.]

You may leave your offering on the table, and I'll consider offering you a slice as well, if you promise to be good, and I mean proper good.

Re: action;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey now, you asked what would Dean do. I told you two out of three would probably be better.

[He just smirks and walks inside, putting the pie on the table.] Sweetheart, you're still jail bait. I might flirt with you but you're a little young for anything more.

action;

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, oh - I see what you did there. Taking me so literally.

[She snorts and closes the door behind her. This is her apartment now. Just hers. At least it's not empty right now.]

That sounds about right. I'm definitely not at my best with the ability to flirt back today.

Re: action;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[He waggles his eyebrows at her and takes a look around.]

It's okay. I do alright without any encouragement. Nice place.

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-13 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Decorated by monkeys and dancers from beyond the sea. [She smiles and goes on to look for a knife, and two plates.]

And only half of that isn't a lie.

Re: action;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Lemme guess, the dancers are the truth.

action;

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-14 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Really? It was pretty obvious it was the monkeys.

Re: action;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey you mentioned something about dancing when I first met you.

Re: action;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[He will avoid saying anything about dancing] Yeah you mentioned that.

[And he pauses awkwardly a moment.] So you gonna be okay here, Sweetheart?

action;

[identity profile] brobeforehos.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Distraught, Mae reached over to put the kettle on. She'd promised tea, and she was going to be a damn great hostess. She'd do her mother proud.]

Hmm? Yeah, I'll be fine. [She shrugged a little, and waved dissmissively.] It will take a while, and I am not the bravado-filled macho who will swear up and down to be perfectly fine despite the huge knife plunged in his back, but...

The point is that I'll recover. It's what I do, really. Get right back up on my feet, adapt - [Finally, she ventured a smile.] And eat pie, of course.

Re: action;

[identity profile] dude-imbatman.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Not really anything else we can do. Carry the hell on. [He smiles back at her though.] With pie.
